Red Bag Appeal 2023

Thank you.

The festive lights may have dimmed, but the warmth of your generosity still shines brightly for Queenslanders in need. Thanks to your incredible support of the Red Bag Appeal, you helped transform Christmas for over 3,000 families and individuals across our state.

Your gift was more than just presents under the tree. It was a delicious Christmas feast shared with loved ones, a haven of comfort for those facing hardship, and a reminder that community truly matters.

Every dollar you donated resonated deeply within our community, sparking a chain reaction of hope and support. We couldn't have done it without you.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being a champion of generosity and making Christmas truly special for so many.

Each year, thousands of Queensland families cannot afford a Christmas meal.

Did you know that more than 3.7 million Australians are experiencing food insecurity and more than 60% of households are reliant on Jobseeker payment?* Queenslanders are forced to choose between food, medical care, and bills due to rising inflation. The Red Bag Appeal is our way of helping these families in crisis experience the joy and hope of Christmas, by providing them with Christmas items, toys and food they might otherwise go without. Help spread a little joy this Christmas.

The Impact of Giving

Hear from Denise, from Wesley Mission Queensland's Emergency Relief Hub.

“This year, with the Red Bags, I’m expecting a lot more people, not just on Centrelink to come in, but families to come in, because with the high cost of living, they’re going to need extra help.”

Support for Families

Hear from Michelle, from Wesley Mission Queensland's Robina Emergency Hub.

“The majority of people that received the Red Bag are families with young or adult children. A lot of kids that come through are going to school with no food. When I turn up with a Red Bag, they say to me We are now going to have a Christmas.”

With your gift of a $50 Red Bag full of toys, decorations and groceries, you can bring joy and hope to those who are struggling to meet life's demands this Christmas.
